Product Shoot, Village London
Intentional styling in Bloomsbury, London
Micro-adjustments and the art of the "lived-in" aesthetic
The Brief
For this shoot I was tasked with capturing the refined fabrics and craftsmanship of Village London’s range of soft furnishings. The photoshoot took place in an elegant Bloomsbury townhouse and we used the bright luxurious aesthetic of this stylish property to set the tone for the shoot.
The Process
Rather than traditional interior design shoots which highlight an entire scheme, for this shoot the focus for each shot was the individual products. Therefore the styling and composition needed to reflect this. When shooting products in a lifestyle shoot like this, I make sure the product is the hero in each image. This often means spending more time making those micro adjustments to the scene.
I review each composition in “live view” on my iPad. This technique allows you to see how the product looks “in camera” rather than “in real life”. Often it’s the few milimeters of movement, or getting the chop right that makes the final image.
The Result
Having an eye for the detail and reviewing the shots in real time as they are composed, ensured the final images reflect the quality of Village London’s soft furnishings. This set of cohesive, aesthetic images feel lived-in but also effortless and clean. The images are now helping to promote and market this high-end brand in digital and print.
