Cover Story: Photographing a Tudor Farmhouse

Interior design magazine cover photography

A Case Study in Creating Publication-Worthy Photography for Sean Symington

Securing a magazine cover is the ultimate goal for many interior designers, and this project is a perfect case study in how to achieve it. It was a pleasure to be commissioned by Sean Symington to photograph his sensitive restoration of this charming Tudor farmhouse in Suffolk. From the outset, our shared goal was to create a set of images that were not just beautiful, but compelling enough to pitch for a major feature. Working alongside Sean and his stylist, my role was to capture how Sean's vision honoured the property’s architectural heritage while using vibrant colours to lift the heavy woodwork and create a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. By focusing on compositions that told a clear narrative and highlighted the "hero" moments in each room, we built a gallery of images that successfully translated the design's story, ultimately earning it the cover of Country Homes & Interiors.
